Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium
The Audubon Society of Rhode Island is an independent, not-for-profit environmental organization dedicated to statewide environmental education, conservation and advocacy. Established in 1897, it is the oldest environmental organization in the state.
Audubon is one of the largest environmental educators in Rhode Island, reaching well over 20,000 students of all ages each year. Since acquiring its first wildlife refuge in 1924, Audubon Society of Rhode Island has grown to become one of the largest private landholders in Rhode Island. It now protects nearly 10,000 acres of wildlife habitat for future generations of Rhode Islanders. Many Audubon wildlife refuges are open to the public for wildlife viewing and enjoyment. Its vigilant advocacy programs and partnerships have kept the public and government informed of threats to the environment for over 100 years.

Accessibility: The interior is fully accessible. Bathrooms have an accessible stall and sink that are fully reachable
Navigating the aquarium is easy, there are no physical barriers blocking paths.
They are working on either braille or audio for individuals who are blind.
The hiking trails are fairly flat dirt. An individual using a power wheelchair would be able to enjoy the trails, a manual wheelchair may have some difficulty.
The trails have plenty of seats and benches along the way, and can be enjoyed at your own pace.

We started our small candy making business in 2014, creating our confections in the kitchens at Hope & Main in Warren, RI and selling our wares at local farmers markets including the Coastal Growers Market in Saunderstown, RI.
In 2017 the business grew, and we opened our first retail location in downtown Newport at the historic Bowen’s Wharf. In 2018, we opened our 2nd retail location which included our own commercial kitchen in the Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket, RI. As the business demand grew, we quickly realized we needed a much bigger space for production and our flagship store opened in the new Farm Fresh building on Sims Ave in Providence, RI in the Fall of 2021.
We know there is so much more on the horizon for our little business…Stay tuned for more of our sweet story!

What Makes Rhed’s Unique
Layers of flavor, not just heat
Lots of fresh vegetables (no garlic or onion powders). We take the time to roast fresh garlic, peel and chop onions, carrots, etc…) to create fresh, flavorful, well balanced sauces. We want all of our sauces to pair with and enhance food, not mask it.
No Preservatives, No Gums, No Fillers
Only natural fermentation, vinegar and sea salt. The chili mash in all of our sauces is fermented for over two weeks before combining with the other ingredients (like changing boring cabbage into delicious sauerkraut but even better with peppers)!

Not only are our sauces great for everyday use, they have also won awards in national competitions: New York Hot Sauce Expo’s Screaming MiMi Awards, the Scovie Awards in New Mexico and the Boston Hot Sauce Festival. Karsten and I created each recipe together with our combined culinary backgrounds, California and Louisiana roots!

They have plenty of accessible parking ramp up to the side door. It is appointment only, you will need to be buzzed in. The shop was easily accessible to roll all the way around and check out all of their products.

Their suites and corner suites are fully accessible. They have a sensory room for those who may need some time away from the loud and the noise. They also have sensory bags that you can get with headphones, fidgets and other sensory items that you may need. They are open to talk when you order your tickets if you need a special accommodation, they’re willing to see if they can accommodate.

There are tables that can be lowered with the push of a button to any size that you want them. There is a lowered section of the bar for those who may need it. Fully accessible outdoor smoking area.

Accessibility: This location is fully accessible. If you come in the front door, there is a lift to take you down to the main floor, but is shortly going to be under construction. You could also get in through the patio area and get out onto the patio area, which is indoor outdoors and fully accessible. There is also a third entrance which can bring you an elevator up to the main floor. There is a dance floor, a lowered section of the bar and two accessible bathrooms. And a family room coming soon.
